After it’s launch in 2008, Spikeball quickly sparked the attention of many. With its simplicity and portability, you can play anywhere and everywhere. Most likely, you too, have watched a round of spikeball being played by others at the beach, park or backyard. With a mix between volleyball and handball, two teams take turns alternating hitting the ball of the trampoline. Each team has 3 hits (think bump, set, spike) before they bounce the ball off the trampoline to the opposing team. Points are won when the ball hits the ground, or if the ball bounces more than once on the trampoline after one hit. What truly makes Spikeball unique is the 360 degree play. Players can run in all directions around the circular, shin-level trampoline, ensuring action packed rallies and spectacular diving plays.
Mölkky is a Finnish throwing game invented in 1996 as a game for people of all ages. Awarding precision and strategy, this game can quickly turn to a thriller. Players take turns throwing a wooden pin called a skittle, at 12 smaller wooden pins with numerical values on them. Knocking over one pin scores the amount of points that is marked on the respective pin. Knocking over two or more pins scores the number of pins that were knocked over. After each throw, the pins are stood up again in the exact location where they landed. The first player to reach 50 points wins, however if you go over 50, you get pushed back to 25. Missing three throws in a row eliminates you from the game. Although incredibly simple, the game quickly becomes competitive and intense. The true joy of this game can only be realized after playing it for the first time!
